Indofood Opens Voice Regarding Ethylene Oxide Found In Indomie Soto Banjar Limau Kuit

JAKARTA - Indomie variant of the Soto Banjar Limau Kuit has recently attracted attention after being found to contain ethylene oxide (EtO) by the Taiwanese government. The ethylene oxide content is beyond the tolerated safe threshold.

Regarding the report, PT Indofood CBP (ICBP) Sukses Makmur opened his voice. They emphasize that the products issued so far have followed the provisions and licensing standards of the Indonesian authorities, the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM RI).

All instant noodles produced by the Company in Indonesia are processed according to food safety standards set by BPOM RI and Standard Codex for Instant Noodles," Indofood's statement in its official statement, quoted Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

The instant noodles they produce are also said to have pocketed the certification of the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). The products are also produced in production facilities that already have ISO 22000 International Standards or FSSC 22000 for the Food Safety Management System.

Indomie's exports to various countries have also been confirmed by the company for more than 30 years. They emphasized that the products sold have met the security standards in the country where they are marketed.

"ICBP has exported instant noodle products to various countries in the world for more than 30 years. The company always ensures that all its products comply with the regulations and food safety standards that apply in countries where ICBP instant noodles are marketed," he said.

Meanwhile, Taiwan's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) previously said that etylene oxides in the Soto Banjar Limau Kuit variant Indomie products were detected in the powder wrappers of 0.1 mg/kg. Based on Taiwanese standards, ethylene oxides should not be present in food and should not exceed 0.1 mg/kg in permitted products.

Residents are then advised to throw away the product if they have purchased it. It is highly inappropriate to consume the product because it is said to be harmful to health.
