The Pangkalpinang City Government, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, has again intensified the promotion of the Healthy Community Movement (Germas), in order to suppress cases of non-communicable diseases (PTM) which are quite high in the area.

"Currently, PTM, such as cholesterol, hypertension and diabetes mellitus, is quite high, because people's behavior is unhealthy," said Acting Head of the Pangkalpinang City Health Office Tri Wahyuni in Pangkalpinang, Saturday, July 12, 2025, as reported by ANTARA.

He said the large number of people with unhealthy living behavior, the Pangkalpinang Health Office began to move the community again so that they could carry out healthy living movements, one of which was by exercising, eating nutritious food and reducing foods that contained sugar and "junk food".

"We hope that with this movement, people will become healthier and lower the level of pain in hospitals, as well as more healthy visits to health centers," he said.

He emphasized that socialization must continue to be carried out and oblige puskesmas to carry out health promotions, where currently the average puskesmas every Friday performs a healthy community movement.

"So every Friday the puskesmas officers have provided foods that do not contain salt or fried foods, but rather to boiled foods such as boiled beans, boiled cassava and vegetables," he said.

The Head of Public Health of the Pangkalpinang Health Office, Abdus Sihabud, said that the results of screening for free health checks to 853 people who checked health at health care centers were dominated by obesity, lack of physical activity, cavities, and the risk of colorectal cancer.

"We invite the public to have their health checked at the puskesmas and have the practice of living a healthy life to prevent these various dangerous diseases," he said.
