Wamen Isyana Asks Parents To Be Wise In Control Of Children Playing Games

Deputy Minister of Population and Family Development/Deputy Head of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (Kemendukbangga/BKKBN), Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka, S.Sos, reminded the need for wise control and control to prevent gaming addiction to children.

This was reminded by the Deputy Minister (Wamen) of Isyana in the activities of the Sayang Anak Foster Park in the Great Parents Class (TAMASYA in KERABAT) Series 4 of 2025 with the theme Game Over or Take Control, Bimbing Anak Facing the World Game which took place in a hybrid manner at the Ministry of Education and Culture office as well as online via Zoom and Youtube Kemendukbang_bkkbn, Thursday (22/05/2025).

Online games are at risk of causing addiction or addiction, if there is no control from parents, family, or caregivers. Another serious threat is the presence of online predators who often disguise themselves as peers to approach, manipulate, and exploit children. This can be a loophole for violence in children, whether psychologically, sexually, potential bullying, and other violence," said Deputy Minister Isyana, reminding children of the dangers of online gaming.

On the same occasion, Dr. dr. Fitri Hartanto, SpA (K) as a resource person said that the role of the government, especially the role of the family, is needed to prevent game addiction in children. The government can cooperate with psychologists and educators in formulating programs and making educational products, accessible in various languages, and affordable for families.

Dr. Fitri added that families need to limit screen time to children. Based on the Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI), here are recommendations for screen time for children: it is not recommended that children under 1 year old have a screen time of age 1 2 years old is not recommended, unless the video call age 2 6 years is not more than 1 hour; age 6 12 years is no more than 1.5 hours; and age 12 18 years is no more than 2 hours.

Wamen Isyana also appealed to parents, caregivers, and educators, "Giving values of discipline and responsibility to children, so that information technology can be a benefit, not a disaster for children."
