JAKARTA - A recent study reveals an interesting reality that many men actually lie about the size of their penis in order to look more confident.

In the study, the man asked to report the size of his own vital device tends to add an average length of more than 1 inch or about 2.5 cm.

As a result, the size they claim is much larger than the actual average. Some even claim to have a size exceeding the world record.

Research was conducted on 224 men in Denmark who were asked to measure several physical aspects at home, including penis size.

The average length of an erection penis in the country is 14.88 cm. However, the number reported by the participants reached an average of 18.02 cm.

Some extreme answers were even removed from data, for example claims of more than 34 cm size that are touted to be the largest penis in the world.

Uniquely, men are more honest when reporting their height, weight, and fitness levels.

According to study author Jacob Dalgaard Christensen of Sweden University of Agricultural Sciences, this too far difference is unlikely just due to measurement errors.

"This difference is too big to be considered an error. On average, the size reported by men is 21.1 percent longer than the average in Denmark," Christensen explained, quoted from The Sun's page.

"Men tend to overestimate their penis sizes to show themselves more favorably."

He said that penises are often considered a symbol of masculinity, so many men feel the need to exaggerate them in order to increase self-confidence.

Previous research showed 85 percent of women were actually satisfied with the size of their partner. While only 55 percent of men are satisfied with their own size.

A global study in 2015 found the world average length of an erection penis was 13.1 cm. Meanwhile, according to the NHS in the UK, the normal size ranges from 13 cm to 18 cm.

Recent research also found that the current male penis size was 24 percent longer than 29 years ago. Experts suspect this could be influenced by environmental factors, including exposure to certain chemicals.
