Running Event Becomes An Event To Increase Concern For People With Hearing Disorders

JAKARTA - Hearing or deafness is still a health problem that is still quite difficult to overcome. According to data from the Ministry of Health, in Indonesia there are around 18.9 million people with hearing disabilities.

Hearing loss management has not been able to run well due to various factors. One of them is that these disorders are still often considered taboo, so early screening is carried out late.

"There are many challenges. The challenges have been around since doing screening, yes. Hearing disorders are still considered taboo, so parents often think that they are not something that is overcome, often their children have hearing impairments," said dr. "If it is known as early as possible, it can be handled as soon as possible, actually it is very likely to grow like a normal child," he added.

In addition, access to health services to overcome hearing problems is also not evenly distributed in Indonesia. Hearing aids also have high prices and limited distribution, so the handling is still not good.

Therefore, it takes a form of concern from various sectors, such as the government, the private sector, and other communities to increase their concern for friends with hearing impairments or deaf friends.

One of them is by procuring running events, such as the Nobel Run: Running with Deaf Friends. This is an inclusive society run event involving the general public, the deaf community, medical personnel, and the business world in the joint movement.

The running event is expected to further increase people's concern for deaf friends, as well as a taboo assessment of hearing loss can be resolved. Not only that, this event also aims to get hearing aids for children and deaf friends who need it.
