JAKARTA - Mental health is one of the things that the government is currently paying attention to in Indonesian society. Therefore, in the free health check program (PKG), psychology is something that must be discriminated against, as emphasized by the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes).

This step was taken considering that the health condition of the community is quite alarming at this time. As a surprise, many young people have a mental health condition that is not okay.

According to the Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) 2023, groups of young people aged 15-24 years have the highest prevalence of depression, with women, those with low education, and workers with low skills become the most vulnerable group.

Thus, the existence of the PKG program which includes psychological screening is expected to help the community.

In the PKG program, the Ministry of Health will use a questionnaire to detect the type of mental disorder that a person may experience.

Handling mental disorders can be done through consultation with psychologists, or in more severe cases by giving medicines. The Ministry of Health is also familiar with expanding mental health problem handling services, even to the level of health centers that are easily accessible to the public.
