EDRR Indonesia 2026 Officially Opened, Pratikno Aims for Indonesia to Become a Disaster Technology Center

JAKARTA - The international exhibition Emergency Disaster Reduction & Rescue (EDRR) Expo Indonesia 2026 officially began on August 12, 2026.

This exhibition, which focuses on disaster mitigation, rescue, and emergency equipment, will last for three days until August 14, 2026 at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Kemayoran, Jakarta.

Carrying the Business-to-Business (B2B) exhibition concept, EDRR Indonesia 2026 brings together industry players and stakeholders to showcase the latest technologies, equipment, and safety systems aimed at strengthening preparedness for various risks and disaster threats.

EDRR Indonesia 2026 was opened by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno on Wednesday, August 12.

The opening was also attended by a number of officials, including Deputy Minister of Health Dante Saksono Harbuwono, Head of Basarnas Mohammad Syafii, Head of BMKG Teuku Faisal Fathani, Head of BNPB Suharyanto, as well as representatives of the TNI, Polri, government, and industry players.

This year's exhibition involves more than 80 companies from within and outside the country and participants present various innovations and technological solutions in the fields of prevention, mitigation, rescue, and disaster management.

Pratikno emphasized that early warning technology must be followed by quick action in the field, and early warning systems will not provide maximum benefits if the information generated is not immediately translated into a step to save the community.

"The Indonesian nation lives side by side with disasters, where there are almost 5,000 disasters every year. Therefore, we invite all parties to strengthen the Early Warning Response Action," he said.

He emphasized that the existence of advanced technology must be able to produce real actions to protect the community, so that information from early warning systems needs to be immediately followed up in order to minimize casualties and the impact of disasters.

"Early warning will only be meaningful if it is followed by early action. Don't let advanced technology just stop in the control room, information must be an action that saves citizens," he said.

Pratikno also conveyed Indonesia's ambition to become a leading center for disaster technology at the global level.

"Our target is clear: Indonesia becomes a Center of Excellence for disaster technology in the world, not only a disaster laboratory, let alone a disaster supermarket," he explained.

He added that the government continues to encourage the development of domestic technology while opening up opportunities for cooperation with international partners through technology transfer, joint research, and investment.

"Indonesia wants to achieve technological independence and continues to encourage the domestic disaster industry. To international partners and investors, we invite technology transfer cooperation, joint research, and direct investment. Make EDRR 2026 not just an exhibition, but a space for collaboration, innovation, and learning with the ultimate goal of saving lives," he said.

Meanwhile, Vice President of Shanghai International Exhibition (Group) Co. Ltd (SIEC) - CPIT Shanghai, Fiona Bai, assessed international cooperation and technology exchange as important factors in increasing the region's resilience to disasters.

He added that through EDRR Indonesia 2026, his party hopes to strengthen collaboration between industry players and encourage technology exchange and industry integration.

"We want to share mature disaster prevention experiences as well as smart, digital, and environmentally friendly emergency solutions to help strengthen emergency response capacity in Indonesia and Southeast Asia," he said.

In addition to technology exhibitions, EDRR Indonesia 2026 presents 10 strategic programs during the three-day implementation. These programs cover various topics, ranging from disaster mitigation, occupational safety, emergency medical services, to investment opportunities and cross-country cooperation.

The ten agendas include the S&D Global Safety and Development Conference, the Occupational Safety Readiness Seminar (iSafety), the Early Warning Response Action Forum (AMPD), G60 Medical Industry Cooperation, the Smart Fire Fighting and Industrial Safety Forum, the Maritime and Islands Emergency Synergy Forum, the World Humanitarian Day Forum, Business Matching, the signing of bilateral cooperation (MoU), as well as disaster management training and simulation through the CPR Workshop.

Seven Event CEO Andy Wismarsyah said that various seminars, workshops, and trainings were designed to increase national capacity and readiness in the face of potential disasters.

"EDRR Indonesia 2026 is not only present to showcase advanced innovations and technologies, but also organizes 10 strategic programs as a space for sharing knowledge, strengthening capacity, encouraging innovation, and building a collaborative network to realize a more prepared, resilient, safe, and responsive Indonesia in facing various disaster risks," he said.

By presenting the latest technology and bringing together industry players from various countries, EDRR Indonesia 2026 is expected to strengthen safety standards and emergency management systems in Indonesia as well as encourage increased disaster resilience in the regional area.
