JAKARTA - The decision regarding the results of the August 2026 Index Review is entirely in the hands of global index provider MSCI Inc. This was emphasized by the President Director of PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI), Jeffrey Hendrik, ahead of the official announcement scheduled for August 12, 2026.

Nevertheless, Jeffrey ensured that the IDX together with the Self-Regulatory Organization (SRO) and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) had actively conveyed various steps to reform the Indonesian capital market to global index providers such as MSCI and FTSE Russell, as well as international investors.

"Of course from us at SRO and OJK, we have conveyed all the reform actions that we have carried out, and we have also communicated, both to MSCI, FTSE, and to global investors," said Jeffrey after attending the 2026 Indonesian Issuers Association (AEI) Member Meeting in Jakarta, Tuesday.

Waiting for the Official MSCI Decision

Jeffrey emphasized that the final authority for adjusting the index constituents is under the control of the Global Index Provider. He asked all capital market participants to be patient in waiting for the announcement.

"Of course, the authority is back entirely with the Global Index Provider. We will both wait," said Jeffrey.

The Indonesian capital market authority is committed to restoring and strengthening the trust (trust and confidence) of all investor segments through the Eight Action Plans to Accelerate the Reform of the Indonesian Capital Market.

"Not only foreign investors, but also our domestic institutional investors, and also our retail investors must have trust and confidence in our market," he said.

Schedule of Announcement and Effective of MSCI Index Adjustment

MSCI Inc is scheduled to announce the August 2026 Index Review on Thursday, August 12, 2026, at approximately 23:00 Central European Summer Time (CEST), or on Friday, August 13, 2026, at approximately 04:00 WIB.

This announcement will include a list of stocks that are added (addition) and removed (deletion) from the MSCI global index portfolio. All adjustments to the results of the evaluation will take effect after the close of trading on August 31, 2026.

Reformasi Response to Accessibility Evaluation

The intensive reform steps carried out by the IDX and OJK are part of a strategic response after MSCI evaluated the transparency and accessibility of the Indonesian capital market.

SRO and capital market authorities are optimistic that continued dialogue and implementation of market structure reforms can provide a positive signal for the position of Indonesian stocks in the eyes of global investors.
