PU Ministry Partners BKN to Improve Quality and Discipline of ASN Work

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has partnered with the State Civil Service Agency (BKN) to improve the quality and integrity of state civil servants (ASN) as part of efforts to realize good governance.

The commitment was discussed in a meeting between Minister PU Dody Hanggodo and Head of BKN Zudan Arif Fakrulloh at the PU Ministry's office, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 22.

Dody said that the presence of the BKN has an important role in strengthening the staffing system in the environment so that it is more professional and ethical in carrying out its duties throughout Indonesia.

"We were discussing how BKN could help the PU Ministry to strengthen ASN as one of the efforts to realize good governance," said Dody, quoted from a written statement, Thursday, July 23.

During the meeting, Dody and Zudan discussed concrete steps to strengthen the capacity of ASN of the Ministry of PU, ranging from improving competence to coaching character and work discipline.

According to the Democratic Party politician, strengthening the quality of ASN requires a systematic and sustainable approach.

He assessed that ASN is one of the main pillars of government administration which plays an important role in supporting the success of national development.

In addition to increasing competence, Dody also highlighted the need to improve a number of internal issues, such as attendance discipline and ASN's involvement in online gambling (judol) practices.

"We also discussed how we could solve these problems and especially ASN in the PU Ministry over time can be better," he said.

He is also committed to opening up more intensive communication spaces with employees as part of efforts to build a healthy and transparent work culture.

Dody even plans to regularly hold direct dialogues with ASN to provide new perspectives on career development as well as strengthen their understanding of their strategic role as state apparatus.

The collaboration with BKN is expected to produce various training programs for ASN that are more focused and sustainable.

Thus, the PU Ministry not only continues to improve the quality of infrastructure development, but also strengthens clean, accountable and integrated government governance.
