Head of OIKN Basuki: Building IKN requires long breath and team work

JAKARTA - Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (IKN) Basuki Hadimuljono shared a moment while watching the 2026 World Cup final match with the Otorita IKN family.

This was conveyed by Basuki through a post on his personal Instagram account @basukihadimuljono, Monday, July 20.

In the upload, Basuki said the match between Spain and Argentina was full of drama until the last minutes.

"Tonight I watched the 2026 World Cup final with the big family of the Nusantara Capital Authority. The Spain-Argentina match was full of drama, high tension until the last minute and the room was noisy following every opportunity," said Basuki.

Basuki said Spain managed to win because it was able to maintain pressure until the end of the match.

According to him, the second game of the two teams was interesting, both in terms of attack and defense.

"La Furia Roja won because they didn't let up until the final whistle. Even in extra time, the game went so well both in terms of their attack and defense. A well-deserved victory," he continued.

From the match, Basuki then drew lessons that were associated with the development of IKN.

He said that the construction of IKN requires patience, teamwork, and the belief that opportunities remain as long as the process is not complete.

"The same lesson applies to us: building Nusantara requires long breaths, teamwork and the belief that as long as the game is not over, opportunities are always there," he said.

Meanwhile, the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) will become the political capital in 2028.

This follows the provisions contained in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 79 of 2025 concerning the Update of the Government Work Plan for 2025 which was enacted on June 30, 2025.

For this reason, the IKN Authority is currently accelerating the construction of infrastructure there.

The development of the judicial and legislative areas, including the Constitutional Court (MK), Supreme Court (MA), Judicial Commission (KY) and House of Representatives (DPR) is also targeted to be completed in 2028.

To monitor the implementation of the project, the IKN Authority periodically conducts monitoring and evaluation together with investors, ministries/institutions, construction service providers, construction consultants, and master construction management.

Through the state budget managed by the IKN Authority, there are 40 physical work packages.

A total of 9 packages have been completed by 2025, 15 packages are still in the construction phase and 16 packages have entered the auction preparation phase.

The package that is being worked on includes the construction of office buildings, judicial and legislative areas, road networks, ponds, retention ponds to drinking water piping networks.
