JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) or HK is entering the final stage of completing the construction of the People's School (SR) in DKI Jakarta Province and Banten Province.
Hutama Karya also prepares all SR facilities to be functional and ready to be used in the 2026/2027 school year which begins in mid-July 2026.
The construction is a task of the Ministry of Public Works (PU), as part of the national priority program of President Prabowo Subianto's idea to break the chain of structural poverty through access to decent and inclusive education.
The fastest readiness is shown by the SR DKI Jakarta project in Cilandak District, South Jakarta City. The SR was built on an area of 2.94 hectares with a total building area of 29,529 square meters.
Most of the buildings are now in the final completion stage (finishing), with an average per building achievement close to 100 percent, including school buildings, student dormitories, canteens, multipurpose buildings, and facilities to support teaching and learning.
All buildings are targeted to be completed and ready for functional use on July 10, 2026, just before the new school year begins. Currently, the remaining work is the completion of final details such as painting, installing doors and windows, and finishing the ceiling.
Meanwhile, the construction of the Banten SR takes place at two points, namely Pandeglang Regency and Lebak Regency, which stand on a large and beautiful area of 11.26 hectares and 8.89 hectares respectively.
Both projects are now entering the final completion phase, with learning support facilities being prepared to be functional first to support activities at the beginning of the school year, while the completion of the entire area continues to be rushed to completion.
As an integrated residential education area, the SR in both provinces is designed to be completed in one environment, ranging from school buildings for elementary, middle, and high school levels, student dormitories, teachers' apartments, mosques, multipurpose buildings to utility buildings and area arrangements.
All facilities are integrated to support the learning process and character development, so that it becomes an equal growing space for students from pre-prosperous families.
Acting Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya Hamdani stated that timely completion was a priority because it was directly related to the students' readiness to enter the new school year.
"Our focus is to ensure that every SR facility is truly functional and safe to use right in the new school year. The speed we are chasing is never exchanged for quality, because this building must be able to become a decent second home for children in the long term," said Hamdani as quoted from a written statement, Friday, July 3.
To pursue this target, all SR points worked by Hutama Karya are driven through a three-shift work scheme that runs 24 hours nonstop, with the addition of labor gradually each week until reaching peak demand by July 7, 2026.
Until early July 2026, more than thousands of workers were deployed at three points in DKI Jakarta and Banten and the number was periodically added.
At this stage, work focuses on the completion of the architecture and mechanical-electrical-plumbing (MEP) installation inside the building as well as the renovation of the landscaping area and access to the building.
"Through the construction of SR, Hutama Karya is committed to overseeing the President's priority program to break the chain of poverty through education. The role of the construction BUMN does not stop at building a building, but also preparing a space for the future of the next generation of the nation, in line with the government's Astacita," he concluded.
