JAKARTA - Danantara Indonesia is considering building a national aircraft leasing company as one of the options to support the financing and procurement needs of the aviation fleet in the country.
The plan was revealed by the Head of the State-Owned Enterprise Regulation Agency (BP BUMN) and Danantara Chief Operating Officer (COO), Dony Oskaria, after attending a closed meeting with Commission VI of the DPR RI at the DPR RI Building, Jakarta, written Tuesday, June 9.
According to Dony, the formation of an aircraft leasing company is still in the study phase. Andantara is currently considering various alternatives to determine the most profitable business scheme.
"We are also studying the possibility of Danantara opening its own leasing company, and so on. So we are considering which is the most profitable for us," said Dony.
The statement was made when Dony answered questions regarding the continuation of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk's (GIAA) plan to buy 50 Boeing aircraft.
As is known, the purchase of Boeing aircraft is part of Indonesia's commitment to the United States (US) in the context of negotiations on reciprocal import tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump.
In the agreement, Garuda Indonesia plans to buy aircraft worth 3.2 billion US dollars or equivalent to Rp51.8 trillion until 2029.
Dony said that all aspects related to the procurement of aircraft are still being calculated and evaluated. Not only about the time of adding the fleet, but also the business model and financing mechanism that will be used.
