JAKARTA - In order to support the smooth flow of the 2026 Eid homecoming and return, PT Hutama Marga Waskita (Hamawas) has implemented toll-free operation for the Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat (Kutepat) section of Section 4 Dolok Merawan-Pematang Siantar segment of Sinaksak - Simpang Panei along 12.55 kilometers (km) today, starting at 07.00 WIB.

Hamawas President Director Dindin Solakhuddin said a number of preparations had been made to support the smooth operation of the toll road, namely by improving services in accordance with the Minimum Service Standard (SPM), beautifying, providing safety facilities and preparing personnel in the field to provide smoothness and safety for road users during the operation. functionally of the road.

"Operating without the Sinaksak-Simpang Panei toll rate is part of our efforts to support the smooth flow of the 2026 Eid homecoming and return. We are committed to ensuring that services run by prioritizing the safety, smoothness and comfort of road users through the readiness of infrastructure, personnel and intensive coordination with related agencies," said Dindin in a written statement, Friday, March 13.

The Sinaksak-Simpang Panei Toll Road is one of the favorite sections for road users who want to go to the Lake Toba tourism area.

The presence of the toll road not only speeds up travel time, but also supports the smooth distribution of logistics more efficiently in the North Sumatra region (Sumut).

With better connectivity, the section is expected to provide a good travel experience, encourage economic growth, increase community mobility and strengthen the role of toll road infrastructure as a driver of regional development.

During its operation without tariffs, the Sinaksak-Simpang Panei section is free of charge, but drivers entering from the direction of Medan Raya or Tebing Tinggi and exiting through the Simpang Panei Toll Gate (GT) are subject to existing tariffs until the Sinaksak GT.

Dindin hopes that by operating without the Sinaksak-Simpang Panei toll road tariff, the public can feel the significant benefits, especially in accelerating connectivity to their hometowns at the moment of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H/2026.

"The presence of this toll road is expected to support the smooth flow of homecoming and return, increase the comfort of road users and provide more efficient alternative routes for people who pass through North Sumatra. Thus, the journey to the home village can take place more safely, smoothly and comfortably," he added.

Hamawas together with the transportation service and the local police satlantas also formed a service post so that they could serve and ensure the safety of road users during the crossing.

There are 38 units of standby fleet that have been prepared, consisting of a tow truck, highway patrol, rescue and ambulance to provide security and comfort to road users.

Road users are also urged to drive according to the rules and regulations applicable on toll roads.

Drive at a minimum speed of 60 km/h and a maximum of 100 km/h and do not use the shoulder of the road unless in an emergency.
