JAKARTA - Trade Minister Budi Santoso emphasized that the import of worn clothing from the United States (US) remained under the government's strict supervision through the tightening of the Surveyor Report (LS) mechanism.

Budi explained that the existence of LS is a form of multi-layered supervision to ensure that the goods that enter are actually raw materials for the industry and have met the applicable provisions.

According to him, before the import process is carried out, documents and reports from surveyors must be fulfilled as one of the main requirements.

"Before this import, there was LS. So it is certain that the goods are indeed goods for industrial raw materials. Yes, so there are supervisor reports. The requirements are," he told the media, Thursday, February 26.

Meanwhile, the LS mechanism also serves to prevent potential abuse by irresponsible importers, such as including goods that do not comply with the permit or provision.

Budi ensured that the supervision system has been running well and has become a standard in the import process of industrial raw materials, including used clothing, so that with the LS before the goods enter the country, the government believes that the import process remains under control and in accordance with the rules.

"So it is certain that there is no problem. Because before coming here there was a LS that has been there," he said.
