JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) or HK is currently working on a package of access to damaged roads after the late November 2025 flood and landslide in Sumatra.
It is known that HK is working on a road package on the Tarutung-Sibolga route along 69 kilometers (km), covering the Adiankoting, Meranti, Simpang 3 Rampa, Mardame, Pagaran Lambung II, Dolok Nauli to Sitahuis districts.
"We are trusted by the Ministry of PU to handle one emergency response package for the bina marga sector, namely on the Tarutung-Sibolga section. The road access section that has been restored has a total length of 69 km," said Executive Vice President of Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya Mardiansyah in a written statement, Monday, January 12.
In the implementation of handling, the work carried out includes cleaning the road body from landslide material, widening the road body, opening access roads buried by landslides, excavation work and opening water channels around the entrance area of the bridge, installing safety lines and making mattresses at a number of vulnerable points.
In addition, the company also carried out LiDAR data collection and soil investigation at 103 points as part of mapping the field conditions to support further handling.
Until January 4, 2026, HK has deployed 72 personnel consisting of implementation teams, HSE, operators, and other supporting personnel.
The handling is supported by various heavy equipment, including PC300 and PC200 excavators, wheel loaders, dump trucks, bulldozers, smooth vibro rollers, log drilling tools, steel sheet piles, trado trailers, to support the opening of access and securing the affected road sections.
"The opening of this affected road access is also carried out by taking into account the weather conditions and the surrounding environment to prioritize the safety of residents and road users," he said.
During the handling process, Mardiansyah did not deny that the team in the field faced challenges in the form of unpredictable weather conditions and a fairly difficult terrain.
Therefore, he continued, his party adjusted the working methods and placement of heavy equipment gradually, accompanied by securing the work area and temporary traffic arrangements.
"This step is taken so that the opening of road access remains safe and at the same time helps the community and road users to return to more comfortable activities," said Mardiansyah.
Along with the ongoing emergency response, access to the Tarutung-Sibolga section is now gradually recovering and can be used again by the community.
Mardiansyah said that this condition provides direct benefits, especially in supporting daily mobility, economic activities, and the smooth distribution of basic necessities in the affected areas.
According to him, the emergency handling is part of the company's ongoing efforts to strengthen the resilience of road infrastructure in disaster-prone areas.
"The reopening of access is the first step before more permanent handling is carried out and will continue to be followed by coordination with the government to ensure that the road infrastructure in North Sumatra is increasingly safe and reliable," he added.
