JAKARTA - The Central Government together with Perum Bulog distributed 4,633 tons of rice for the Stabilization of Supply and Food Prices (SPHP) to 42 districts/cities in six provinces in Greater Papua.
The six provinces in question are Papua, Papua Mountains, Central Papua, South Papua, West Papua, and Southwest Papua.
The distribution of rice is carried out through the Simultaneous Cheap Food Movement (GPM) and the massive distribution of SPHP rice.
Minister of Agriculture/Head of the National Food Agency, Andi Amran Sulaiman, said thousands of tons of rice were distributed throughout the Greater Papua region to ensure that the community's needs were met with controlled prices.
Furthermore, Amran said, Papua is a priority in stabilizing food. He said, the SPHP aims to keep prices in the eastern region stable.
Papua must feel the presence of the state directly. We make sure the SPHP rice is spread evenly, the quality is maintained, prices are stable. There should be no turmoil ahead of Christmas and New Year," Amran said in an official statement, Wednesday, December 10.
As a support for security and stabilization, the Papuan Police distributed 852 tons of SPHP rice as an initial stage of a total of 2,700 tons of rice to be distributed in stages throughout the Greater Papua region.
The distribution is carried out to difficult areas, including using planes in areas that can only be reached by air transportation.
Meanwhile, the President Director of Perum Bulog, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, ensured the readiness of the fleet and logistics infrastructure to support this large operation.
"Through this simultaneous GPM activity, Bulog ensures that SPHP rice is distributed quickly and evenly throughout Greater Papua, including remote areas. We work closely with the Police, TNI, Bapanas, and local governments," he said.
