Balikpapan RDMP Refinery Inaugurated By Prabowo Next Week

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) revealed that the Balikpapan Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) megaproject will be inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto in the near future.

Just so you know, there are rumors that this giant refinery will be inaugurated on December 17.

Whereas it was previously planned to be inaugurated to coincide with Hero's Day 10 November.

"Maybe you've heard the date, although it's still tentative. The plan is like that (the President's inauguration," said Laode to the media crew, Wednesday, December 10.

Laode also said that the Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Yuliot Tanjung, had also made direct visits to the RDMP project site and ensured that it would soon operate.

"Mr. Deputy Minister last week from there too. Basically, it's ready, really. It's ready to produce," continued Laode.

Just so you know, on November 10, the Pertamina International Refinery (KPI) has started the initial operation process of one of the main units that play an important role in the results of the Balikpapan RDMP project, namely the Fluid Catalytic Cracking (RFCC) Residual Unit.

Pjs. KPI Corporate Secretary Milla Sutyani said, RFCC is one of the symbols of the sophistication of a refinery. RFCC is a production unit capable of processing residue or remaining products from crude processing products from the previous processing process unit. Through this RFCC unit, the residue can be reprocessed so that it produces high-value products, namely gasoline, propylene and LPG.

"This means that the processing process at the Balikpapan Refinery will be maximized. All parts of crude oil are processed into valuable products," said Milla, Thursday, November 23.

The capacity of the Balikpapan Refinery RFCC alone reaches 90,000 barrels per day. This is the largest RFCC unit in Indonesia.

"With the operation of the Balikpapan Refinery RFCC unit, of course, it will further strengthen national energy resilience.

"The production of this RFCC will help reduce fuel imports, especially the types of gasoline and LPG," Milla explained.

Proyek RDMP Kilang Balikpapan merupakan salah satu Proyek Strategis Nasional (PSN), di mana proyek ini menelan investasi sebesar 7,4 miliar dolar AS atau setara dengan Rp126 triliun.

Proyek ini menjadi salah satu investasi yang terbesar dilakukan BUMN dalam satu titik kegiatan untuk mengurangi impor Bahan Bakar Minyak (BBM).

The Balikpapan Refinery RDMP project is one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN), where this project cost an investment of US$7.4 billion or equivalent to Rp126 trillion.

This project is one of the largest investments made by SOEs in one activity point to reduce imports of fuel oil (BBM).
