JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister (Menko) Pangan Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) shared his unique experience while exercising in the Jalan Sudirman area, Jakarta. He admitted that residents asked why he didn't bring rice.

The reprimand relates to the viral video showing Zulhas working on rice alone, while the other group did not do the same thing. The action was carried out while inspecting the location of landslides and floods in West Sumatra (West Sumatra).

Zulhas replied to the question jokingly. "I said I was exercising because I was tired of rice gotong," he said, which was immediately greeted by laughter from the residents.

Responding to this, Zulhas said that it was carried and distributing rice had become an old habit. He said, this habit was advice from the late mother.

"So I was ordered by my mother, the deceased, 'Every day, children must provide assistance because in Islam the verse is clear,' he said.

Zulhas said he was used to sharing since childhood. Until now, every time he visits the area, he often brings and distributes rice directly to the community.

"I'm starting to be 6-7 years old, I'm used to sharing. Every time I go to the regions, just ask my friends, I'm indeed for rice. So I usually work together with rice, that's normal," he said.

In addition, Zulhas also admitted that he had no problem with criticism regarding the viral video. According to him, the main focus at this time is not about the pros and cons of the action, but how can people help each other in disaster victims in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

"Yes, that's okay, I also forgive. Most importantly, I invite us not to get angry, not just emotional. Let's help our brothers in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. One rupiah is important for them, even one sack of rice is important," said Zulhas.
