Nusron Wahid: Land Mafia Syndicate Has Been Structured, Starting From Village Apparatus

JAKARTA - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid revealed the modus operandi of land mafia activities.

The land mafias build syndicates starting from the upstream level, namely village officials.

Nusron said land crimes have been very disturbing to the public.

The land mafias are known to have built a syndicate in a structured and systematic manner.

"The syndicate has been structured, systematic and entered into all life channels, starting from the upstream level, namely village officials. The trick of letters at the village, sub-district level, this has actually become an entry point," said Nusron at the Coordination Meeting (Rakor) on Prevention and Settlement of Land Crimes in Jakarta, Wednesday, December 3.

Nusron also highlighted the land legal system in Indonesia.

According to him, the Indonesian land system has one weakness, namely that the proof of land transactions is still very dependent on historical documents.

"Where these historical documents sometimes come from oral sources or history of land or land workers at the village level," he said.

According to Nusron, disputes are something that is almost unavoidable when it comes to history and division, including land issues.

"I have said many times, in any world, including Indonesia, let alone land issues when it comes to history and cooperation issues, disputes will definitely arise. Starting from there," he said.

He said, not a few land dispute cases started with history issues.

This is as seen in the land dispute conflict in Makassar, between the 10th and 12th Vice Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla, PT Hadji Kalla, and PT Gowa Makassar Tourism Development (GMTD), part of the Lippo Group.

Another challenge, continued Nusron, is that land crimes will always have a metamorphous nature.

This condition demands that the handling steps from the relevant ministries/institutions to law enforcement officers (APH) and require various adjustments, cannot depend on the old method repeatedly.

"Because if this continues, I once said, until the end of less than two days this land mafia will not be able to be overcome. Because this condition is already emergency. Therefore, the most important thing between us is the tightening of principles, especially commercial patterns," explained Nusron.

The Golkar Party politician also commemorated the ATR / BPN community so as not to get involved with the land mafia.

Nusron also reminded stakeholders and ministries/agencies to continue to work together in the context of eradicating the land mafia.

"With the State Intelligence Agency to provide complete information, so that they can be arrested without using strange identities. Because sometimes these perpetrators also use strange identities. If all this has been done, God willing, we can solve this problem," he added.
