Freeport McMoran reports that PT Freeport Indonesia has started production activities from the Deep Mill Level Zone and Big Gossan underground mines which were not affected at the end of October 2025.

Freeport McMoran's President and Chief Executive Officer, Total Quirk, said in his statement that recovery activities will also continue to be carried out to prepare for a gradual resumption and increased production of the Grasberg Block Cave underground mine, which is planned to start in the second quarter of 2026.

"Our team is committed to restoring large-scale and low-cost production at Grasberg in a safe, efficient and responsible way," he said in a statement to the media, quoted on Saturday, November 22.

He also confirmed that Freeport had integrated learning from the tragic incident that recently occurred into the company's future plans. Freeport, he said, is also implementing various initiatives to address the conditions that caused the incident.

"We will continue to prioritize safety above all when restoring operations and working to provide benefits to many of our stakeholders," he continued.

Based on plans for gradual recovery and improvement, Freeport estimates that PTFI's copper and gold production from the Grasberg mineral district by 2026 will be similar to the 2025 volume estimate, which is around 1.0 billion pounds of copper and 0.9 million ounces of gold.

Freeport estimates PTFI production will increase throughout 2026 and 2027 with an average annual production of around 1.6 billion pounds of copper and 1.3 million ounces of gold for the third period of 2027-2029.
