JAKARTA - Executive Director of the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (Indef) Esther Sri Astuti admitted that the current global economic condition is still worrying. This also prompted Indonesia to be in the vortex of uncertainty.

Seeing this, Esther hopes that Indonesia can face global uncertainty by maintaining domestic economic resilience. This is important to do, so that when the world is volatile, the Indonesian economy remains strong and can continue to grow.

"The challenge is real. Here we have to face the change, like it or not. However, in the midst of global change and uncertainty, I am sure we can also get opportunities. The opportunity is a digital transformation, then the regional supply chain and several areas that we can take advantage of," Esther said at the Indonesian Economist 100 Sarasehan Event in Jakarta, Tuesday, October 28.

"Here, that is, an important role from domestic economic resilience. Resilience is not just a way of surviving, but resilience is how we are able to adapt in the midst of this global uncertainty and continue to grow even in crisis and recession," he continued.

For this reason, Esther assessed, the government needs to build strong collaborations with various stakeholders, in encouraging the domestic economy, especially to the private sector.

According to him, the role of the private sector is very crucial for economic resilience. With the large number of private involvement in various government strategic programs, the wheels of the domestic economy are believed to be able to run well.

"Collaboration is the key to success. However, to build an economic resilience, we cannot do it alone, synergy is needed. Not only the role of the government, but also the roles of business actors, academics, think tank research and various relevant stakeholders," he said.

In addition, Esther continued, collaboration between the central and regional governments should not be forgotten. The reason, she said, development should not be Javancentric, but must also be carried out outside Java.

"We all know that the journey to a strong and independent economy is not easy. However, with the spirit of collaboration and innovation, I believe we can realize a strong, sovereign economy, provide prosperity to all Indonesian people," he concluded.
