Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Calls Only 44 Mining Companies Apply For IUP Recovery

JAKARTA - Director General of Mineral and Coal (Minerba) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Tri Winarno said that only 44 of the 190 companies proposed to restore Mining Business Permits (IUP).

In fact, he continued, the deadline for submissions would end in November 2025.

"Lastly on November 15," Tri Winarno told the media crew, Wednesday, October 15.

Tri said, 190 companies are mineral and coal companies that have not fulfilled their obligation to place post-mining reclamation funds so that the IUP is temporarily frozen.

The 190 companies were suspended their operational activities through a letter from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Number T-1533/MB.07/DJB.T/2025 dated September 18, 2025, which was signed by the Director General of Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Tri Winarno.

Tri said that his party had given him 60 days from the time he was written. Thus, the deadline for the submission falls on November 15, 2025.

Setelah tanggal 15, IUP perusahaan tersebut akan dicabut sehingga perusahaan-perusahaan tersebut tidak lagi bisa mengajukan Rencana Kerja dan Anggaran Biaya (RKAB) tahun 2026.

"Never mind RKAB, it's revoked. It's been revoked, you know. I can't do anything anymore," said Tri.

Tri said, of the 44 companies that have submitted, only 4 companies have been allowed to operate again because they have completed the files required by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

While the other 40 still have to fulfill files such as reclamation guarantee documents, reclamation guarantees, and reclamation guarantee payments.

"We have given 60 days to clarify, if 60 days of clarification is not carried out, then that's it," he said.
