JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development (IPK) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said Indonesia has the capacity and authority to appear as one of the champions in encouraging sustainable development at the global level.

In the 2025 Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (IISF) Preparation Meeting, AHY said, RI as an emerging economy country wants to pursue high economic growth while ensuring inclusive welfare without sacrificing environmental telesterion.

"This sustainability is not only a global theme, but must (be) mainstream in the direction of future national development policies, including in the infrastructure sector," said AHY.

AHY emphasized that infrastructure development must prioritize environmentally friendly technology and innovation. This includes the housing sector, transportation to public facilities which are expected to reduce carbon emissions.

"We have to make efforts from now on and must be aggressive together. To provide sustainability and sustainability as well as we need support, including financial support and investment," he said.

According to AHY, the IISF is a flagship event that is expected to produce real policies and collaborative steps to deal with global warming and the climate crisis. "This forum must present policies as well as concrete steps so that we can achieve ambitious targets," said the chairman of the Democratic Party.

On the same occasion, the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Perkasa Roeslani emphasized that the IISF was an important milestone in Indonesia's efforts to achieve the net zero emission target by 2060.

Rosan said the IISF was an important stage for Indonesia to strengthen its commitment to the clean energy transition. He added that President Prabowo Subianto reiterated the net zero emission 2060 target in his speech at the UN General Assembly last week in New York, United States (US).

"We are committed to carrying out and achieving these targets, preparations have been made long ago. This requires comprehensive collaboration, not only from the government, but also from the business world, academics and other stakeholders," he explained.

He added that the IISF had been held since the last two years and this year was attended by 13 countries, with around 70 percent of speakers from abroad. This, according to Rosan, shows world confidence in Indonesia's role in the global sustainability agenda.

"This event is an opportunity for Indonesia to take advantage of momentum, both in terms of missions and policy directions towards net zero. IISF is also a platform to describe plans for the use of new and renewable energy which will reach 76 percent by 2030," he explained.

To note, the IISF 2025 will be held at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC) on 10-11 October 2025.

The activity with the theme "Investing for a Resilient, Sustainable and Prosperous World" will bring together cross-sector stakeholders. Starting from the government, state-owned enterprises, private sector, academics, global investors to international organizations.
