JAKARTA - PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) presents an innovative program that allows customers to reduce installments of home ownership loans (KPR) through household waste management.
"We designed this program to support environmental sustainability as well as ease the financial burden on the community. Through this program, we invite developers and residential residents to start sorting out waste," said BTN Risk Management Director Setiyo Wibowo as reported by ANTARA, Sunday, September 28.
Setiyo added that good-run waste can be exchanged for money specifically for reducing mortgage installments.
The more waste is collected, the greater the savings that can be used to reduce installments.
He reminded that waste has economic value.
Each person produces an average of one kilogram of waste per day, so that in one family with four members, up to four kilograms of waste can be collected per day.
Program pengelolaan sampah ini merupakan kerja sama BTN dengan Rekosistem, perusahaan pengelola sampah berbasis teknologi.
To transport residents' waste, there are Mobile Reko and BTN services that receive various types of waste, ranging from plastic, metal, paper, to used waste oil and electronics.
The waste deposited by the community will be sorted, recorded, and converted into points called Rekopoin.
The value of these points is then transferred to the customer's BTN account to help pay for installments.
The mechanism makes the waste that usually ends up in the final disposal site, now has real value as savings.
Setiyo added that this program is also in line with BTN's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategies to provide environmentally friendly housing financing.
"Through this program, waste management from home is not just to save and reduce mortgage installments, but also to save for a better future for the earth," said Setiyo.
CEO and Co-Founder of the Ernest Christian Layman Recosystem said the waste problem in Indonesia was still complicated because most of it still ended up in the final disposal site and its management cost a lot of money.
With community participation, waste can be managed better and even help reduce mortgage installments.
"This is not only financial innovation, but also a real contribution to keeping the earth sustainable," said Ernest.
