JAKARTA - Commemorating the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer on September 16, PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) officially announced its membership in the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF). This step also reflects BTN’s support for President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision to achieve Indonesia’s net zero emissions target by 2060.

PCAF is a global collaboration among financial institutions that aims to facilitate standardized assessment and disclosure of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions arising from lending and investment activities. Since its launch in 2019, more than 600 financial institutions across six continents have joined, with rapid growth in North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, and Asia-Pacific.

BTN’s Director of Risk Management, Setiyo Wibowo, stated that BTN’s participation in PCAF will further strengthen transparency and accountability in reporting financed emissions—or the carbon emissions resulting from the Bank’s financing activities. “We are committed to supporting Indonesia’s transition towards a sustainable economy. We are announcing this initiative on the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer as part of our collective effort to safeguard the Earth’s atmosphere,” Setiyo said in Jakarta, Tuesday (16/9).

Setiyo further explained that PCAF has developed the Strategic Framework for Paris Alignment, a framework designed to help financial institutions better understand the processes required to reach net zero emissions by 2050 in line with the Paris Agreement. BTN’s membership in PCAF, he emphasized, clarifies the Bank’s pathway toward achieving net zero financed emissions by 2060.

“BTN believes that responsible financing, combined with transparent reporting, is the key to achieving our 2060 net zero financed emissions target. This commitment will be focused on low-emission financing that supports the government’s economic transition goals, particularly in low-emission housing, which serves as BTN ESG’s flagship initiative,” Setiyo concluded.
