Bulog Ensures Rice Stock In North Sumatra Is Safe Until November 2025, Available 47,250 Tons

The Regional Office of North Sumatra (North Sumatra) Perum Bulog ensures that rice stocks in the area are sufficient to meet the basic needs of the community until November 2025.

"The rice stock in the warehouse is 47,250 tons which is sufficient for November," said North Sumatra Bulog Regional Leader Budi Cahyanto as reported by ANTARA, Friday, September 5.

Budi said the stock is usually able to reach three months, but currently the need for basic commodities in the North Sumatra region is increasing, due to the distribution of the Food Supply and Price Stabilization Program (SPHP).

According to him, the distribution was carried out massively to partners with a total distribution of SPHP rice reaching 8,047 tons out of a total of 15,430 tons per month in September 2025.

These include the cheap food movement, retailers in the people's market, the Red and White Villages Cooperatives, food outlets assisted by the local government, and our Food Houses (RPK).

"The distribution of the SPHP rice makes the rice supply 30 percent in the area, but the resilience of rice stocks in the warehouse until November," he said.

Budi said that the public does not need to worry, because the supply of rice continues to increase from the center.

In addition, North Sumatra Bulog absorbs various areas such as Simalungun Regency, Serdang Bedagai Regency, and Batu Bara Regency.

"Overall, the absorption of harvested dry grain has reached 37,431 tons or 18,715 tons of rice during 2025," he said.

He suggested that farmers in the area sell unhulled rice to Bulog because the price had been set at Rp. 6,500 per kilogram or Rp. 6,700 per kilogram of dry unhulled rice harvested in mills.
