Minister Of Agriculture Amran Claims Rice Prices Have Dropped

BEKASI - Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman claims the price of rice that was previously high has begun to fall. This decline is related to the price of grain.

Furthermore, Amran said the price of unhulled rice in several areas in production centers had fallen below the government purchase price (HPP) which was set at IDR 6,500 per kg.

"It's started to fall. Two days ago we received reports that rice prices in several rice-producing areas had started to fall. Well, if it has gone downstream, God willing, downstream it will go down," he said when met after the Great Harvest of the Mandiri Prosecutor for Food, in Bekasi Regency, West Java, Tuesday, August 19.

Amran revealed that production center areas that have experienced a decline in rice prices are East Java, Central Java, West Java, Lampung, South Sulawesi and Aceh.

"If we received the report yesterday, East Java, Central Java, West Java, Lampung, South Sulawesi, North Sumatra, Aceh has dropped slightly for rice," he said.

The current decline in rice prices in the market, continued Amran, is also inseparable from the role of Perum Bulog in distributing cheap rice through the supply stabilization program and food prices (SPHP).

Amran said Perum Bulog received an assignment to distribute 1.3 million tons of SPHP rice for the period July to December 2025.

"So this is the result of the hard work of Bulog's friends to distribute SPHP, namely cheap food at a price of only Rp. 12,500 and we will disburse 1.3 million tons, so it is very large and this may be the highest in history that we distribute. Usually only 300,000, 200,000, 100,000, this is 1.3 million tons throughout Indonesia," he said.

For your information, based on data from the National Food Agency Price Panel, on Tuesday, August 19, the price of harvested dry unhulled rice (GKP) at the farmer level is in the range of Rp. 6,500 to Rp. 7,243 per kg. Meanwhile, the price of GKP at the milling level is in the range of Rp. 6,800 to Rp. 8,250 per kg.

The price of premium rice is still above the Highest Retail Price (HET). For premium rice in zone 1, it is recorded at IDR 15,484 per kg. In zone 2 IDR 16,573 per kg, while zone 3 is IDR 18,399 per kg.

Meanwhile, the price of medium rice in zone 1 is Rp. 13,905 per kg. In the zone area is Rp. 14,531 per kg, and zone 3 is Rp. 16,407 per kg.
