JAKARTA - The government has determined that the Value Added Tax (VAT) rate is 12 percent by 2025, its application is only intended for luxury goods.
However, until now there has been no further clarity regarding the deadline for implementing these tariffs or the possibility of changing policies in the future.
When asked for information, the Expert Staff of the Minister of Finance for Tax Compliance at the Ministry of Finance Yon Arsal had not provided a detailed explanation regarding the VAT tariff scheme in 2026.
He also did not confirm whether the 12 percent tariff would remain limited to luxury goods or expanded to public consumption goods next year.
"I don't know yet, I'll check it first. But it feels like if the PMK is valid since January 1, there has been no further update. Later, I will ask the APBN press," he told the media crew, Tuesday, August 12.
