Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto revealed that until now the discussion of tariffs with the United States is still ongoing.
Airlangga said, Indonesia is one of the countries that has the lowest tariff in the world, which is only 19 percent from the previous 32 percent.
According to him, the further negotiations that will be carried out by Indonesia and the US are related to efforts to reduce tariffs on several Indonesia's leading commodities that cannot be produced by the US below 19 percent to 0 percent.
He detailed that these products include oil palm, coffee, cocoa, agro products, and also other mineral products including aircraft components and industrial product components in certain industrial areas such as in free trade zones.
"So it is under discussion and it is possible to be lower than 19 percent and it is possible to approach 0 percent," AIRlangga said at a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Office, Thursday, July 24.
Airlangga added that the US also pays attention to the implementation of tariffs from The European Union (EU) or the European Union which provides a 0 percent tariff for Indonesian crude palm oil (CPO).
"America also sees that Europe is giving us the CPO 0 percent in EU-CEPA, so some of that is a benchmark," said Airlangga.
