JAKARTA - Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, said that the indicative ceiling for the implementation of the Free Nutritioning Program (MBG) in 2026 which reached IDR 217 trillion is considered insufficient to finance services throughout the year, with a target of 82.9 million beneficiaries.

He revealed this when he was a resource person, one of the national media program entitled Measuring the Implementation of the Free Nutrition Food Program which was broadcast online, on Monday, July 14.

"We have received an indicative ceiling of IDR 217 trillion. Meanwhile, we are pursuing a target of 82.9 million by the end of November or early December (2025). If this target is achieved, then from January to December (2026), we serve 82.9 million," he said.

With the MBG scheme six times a week, the ceiling that has been set is projected to be sufficient until August 2026.

Therefore, BGN proposed an additional budget for the September period of December 2026, amounting to IDR 118 trillion. Thus, the total budget for the MBG Program next year is IDR 335 trillion.

"If starting from January to December and every day, six times a week (MBG distribution to beneficiaries) then the IDR 217 trillion budget will expire at the end of August (2026). So we need additional ones for September, October, November, December (2026). This is assuming that we can benefit 82.9 million by the end of this year," continued Dadan.

Dadan said, Commission IX of the DPR RI also understood and supported BGN's proposed additional budget recently. According to him, members of the council considered that the calculation was logical and that the program's implementation so far had been effective and efficient.

"According to them (Commission IX of the DPR), what is conveyed is made up, the calculations are clear and don't forget that all members of Commission IX are involved in promotions, including seeing that the implementation will be nutritious. Then seeing that the budget used by the Nutrition Agency is quite effective and efficient," he said.

BGN Ensures Budget Transparency

Dadan ensures budget transparency for this national nutrition fulfillment program by designing a digital-based fund distribution system through a virtual account that is connected between BGN and its implementing partners. This system allows the Ministry of Finance to directly monitor the flow of funds to the regions.

"For the budget, we are developing it in such a way that the Ministry of Finance can also see the use of the money in the regions. Because of the money we sent through a virtual account, it became a joint account between the Nutrition Agency and partners," he explained.

"So the use is at cost so that the flow is based on digital and the Ministry of Finance can even see where the money is flowing," he continued.

BGN ensures that the entire process runs with high efficiency and accountability principles to support national priority programs in improving the nutritional status of the younger generation.
