JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) plans to implement a one-price 3 kilogram LPG (kg) policy starting in 2026. Later, the price of LPG for melon canisters will be uniform throughout the country.
Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Yuliot Tanjung said the 3kg LPG price would be set by the central government, not by the regional government (Pemda). The goal is to avoid disparities in inter-regional prices.
"Because this is one price LPG, the price is set by the government (central). If this is determined by the regions, there will be a price difference," he said at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jakarta, Friday, July 4.
The highest retail price (HET) for 3 kg LPG is currently set by each regional government (Pemda), so the price of subsidized LPG in each region in Indonesia is different.
The pricing scheme is regulated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 104 of 2007 concerning Provision, Distribution, and Determination of 3 kg LPG Cylinder Prices.
Yuliot said the government would issue a new Presidential Regulation (Perpres) to become a legal umbrella related to the one-price 3 kg LPG scheme.
Thus, the Presidential Regulation will replace Presidential Decree 104/2007.
"This will be stipulated, there is a presidential regulation that we will issue for this one-price LPG policy," said Yuliot.
