JAKARTA - The PT Mass Rapid Transit or MRT Jakarta (SPMRT) union complained that it was often not involved or discussed regarding the increase in salaries and wages.
SPMRT chairman Ali Alhakim said the mechanism for determining employee wages was not in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, namely Article 90A Number 6 of 2023.
"Management, in this case, determines an increase in employee wages without an agreement with the union. Management (companies) should negotiate with trade unions," said Ali.
As for Article 90A in Article 81 number 32 of the Job Creation Law which reads "The wages above the minimum wage are determined based on an agreement between Employers and Workers/Labourers or Labor Unions/Labor Unions in the company".
In addition, he continued, communication between management and trade unions has always caused misunderstandings.
According to him, effective communication is very important to maintain a harmonious relationship between management and trade unions, as well as to resolve problems properly.
"The president director does not want to meet (audience) with the union. They are allergic, they do not want to open a room with the union," Ali complained.
