JAKARTA - The Industrial Trust Index (IKI) in May 2025 was recorded at 52.11 points. This figure also rose from IKI in April 2025 which was recorded at 51.90.
"In May 2025, IKI was worth 52.11. This value is above 50 which means 52.11, this can be said to be expansive. So, the performance of the Indonesian manufacturing industry in May 2025 is still above 50 or expansive," said Spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) Febri Hendri Antoni Arif in the release of IKI May 2025, Tuesday, May 27.
In addition, when compared to IKI in April last year, the amount of IKI in May 2025 is also calculated to slow down by 0.39 points, which is at 52.50.
"Compared to last month, there was an increase of 0.21 points compared to IKI April 2025 of 51.90. However, when compared to the same month last year, IKI slowed down slightly by 0.39 points from last year's 52.50," he said.
Febri added that in May there were 21 industrial sub-sectors experiencing expansion. The contribution of these 21 sectors to gross domestic product (GDP) was 95.7 percent.
In other words, the IKI sub-sectors with expansive status are the largest contributors to their GDP.
"The highest sub-sector with IKI value is the other transportation equipment industry and the tobacco processing industry," said Febri.
In addition, there are two sub-sectors that have been recorded to have contracted, namely the skin industry, leather and footwear goods, and the electric equipment industry.
He revealed, based on the IKI-forming variables, there are three things, namely new order variables, production variables, and product inventory variables.
"Meanwhile, two other variables, the production variable and product or stock inventory variable are experiencing a slowdown, but it is still expansive, namely if production decreases by 2.09 points which in the previous month was 52.43, while the product or stock supply variable fell 1.15 points to 52.48," said Febri.
According to Febri, the increase in IKI from April to May 2025 was due to improving domestic demand for manufacturing needs in May this year.
"We will be able to see in terms of performance, perceptions of the performance of industry company players over the past month and perceptions of the expectations of industry company players for the next 6 months," he explained.
