West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi will review the construction of the Build Your Dreams (BYD) factory, a technology company from China that produces electric cars, trucks and new energy vehicles in Subang, West Java.

The plan is that the number 1 person in West Java will review the construction of the BYD factory on Thursday, March 20, 2025.

Dedi assessed that the company's presence would make the investment climate in West Java even better.

"The investment capital in West Java is getting better. Later on March 20 (March) I will see BYD's investment in West Java," said Dedi when met at the PU Ministry office, Jakarta, Monday, March 17.

He added that the company has a production capacity of up to 150,000 units of electric vehicle (EV) per year and will absorb thousands of local workers.

"Many workers will be absorbed, around 50,000 workers will be absorbed," he said.

Previously, the automotive giant from China, Build Your Dream (BYD) would build a factory in the Subang Smartpolitan area, West Java. The construction of the factory is targeted to be completed by the end of 2025.

"As I said in accordance with BYD's commitment and being part of the business in Indonesia, so far we have been on track (according to the plan) for the construction of the factory," said Head of Marketing Communication BYD Motor Indonesia Luther T. Panjaitan when met in the Jakarta area some time ago.

The factory, which was built worth US$1 billion or around Rp. 16.38 trillion, has been communicated back to the government through the Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Investment Coordinator Agency (BKPM).

"Minister Rosan Roeslani visited BYD's headquarters in Shenzen, China. They were quite satisfied and stated that the progress was in line with expectations," he added.

The plan is that BYD factories in Indonesia will have a production capacity of up to 150,000 units per year. Various models will also be assembled locally.
