JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has issued Ministerial Regulation (Permen) of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 6 of 2025 which will grant permission to extend the export of copper concentrate to PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) until June 2025.
Just so you know, this Permen is a revision of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation number 6 of 2024 concerning the completion of the construction of domestic purification facilities.
Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Yuliot Tanjung, revealed that the granting of this export permit is only valid until June 2025.
"Only for 6 months, until June. It has been issued (Permen)," said Yuliot to the media crew at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Thursday, March 6.
He emphasized that this policy is not a form of export relaxation but only in the form of the government's efforts to adapt the majeur force or force experienced by PTFI.
"Not relaxation, because of the condition of the ball. This is to continue production in the country," continued Yuliot.
Just so you know, the export license for copper concentrates has expired since December 31, 2024.
However, in October 2024, there was a fire that hit the sulfic acid treatment unit belonging to the Freeport smelter in Gresik.

The incident caused Freeport not to be able to produce because Freeport's operations in Gresik were temporarily suspended.
This is what underlies Freeport in submitting an extension of exports to the government.
The smelter, which experienced the fire, is planned to resume operations in July, and will gradually increase to 100 percent by December 2025.
