SUG Solar Strengthens KITB's Position As A Green Energy Investment Magnet

JAKARTA - PT Kawasan Industri Terpadu Batang (KITB) has again recorded a great achievement as a home for the largest solar panel (PV) factory in Southeast Asia. PT SEG Solar Manufacturing Indonesia, a leading producer of photovoltaics from the United States, will start its factory operations in April 2025. This project is an important milestone in the development of the renewable energy industry in Indonesia.

With a total investment of more than 500 million US dollars and a land area of 40 hectares, PT SEG Solar Manufacturing Indonesia officially invested in KITB on May 15, 2025 and conducted Ground Breaking on September 29, 2024. This factory will be the largest PV manufacturing facility in Southeast Asia, with annual production capacity reaching 5GW for solar cells and 5GW for modules, which will have a significant impact on the renewable energy ecosystem in Indonesia, where almost all of its products will be exported to the United States.

This ambitious project is predicted to create more than 3,000 jobs, strengthen local economic competitiveness, and contribute to the development of labor skills in increasingly important photovoltaic technology in the era of global energy transformation.

As part of the Indonesia's Sustainable Energy Agenda, PT SEG is committed to supporting sustainable development through national strategic projects (PSN) that encourage the development of clean and environmentally friendly energy.

The founder and COO of the Indonesian Solar Manufacturing SAG, Jun Zhuge, said that his party is proud to be able to contribute to the advancement of renewable energy in Indonesia.

The construction of this factory is a clear proof of KITB's commitment to supporting the Indonesian government in achieving the carbon emission reduction target and accelerating the energy transition. This PV factory also opens up great opportunities to strengthen Indonesia's economic relations with the global market and accelerate the acceleration of PSN development which supports the achievement of Indonesia's vision as the world's renewable energy center.
