The Ministry Of PKP Encourages Government And Private Cooperation To Build Affordable Residentials

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) encourages the implementation of a Government and Private Cooperation scheme in building affordable housing for the people.

"We continue to encourage how the private sector can participate in providing affordable housing. For this reason, we can discuss further how the government and private cooperation financing scheme (private public partnership) can be implemented in Indonesia in the housing sector," said the Director General of Urban Housing of the Ministry of PKP Sri Haryati in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Thursday, February 20.

According to Sri, the Ministry of PKP as the government's representative and its function as a facilitator and regulator is ready to hear input from all private sectors who want to invest in the development of decent housing for the people.

"We, the government, are open to hearing the input, if necessary there will be changes in the rules to attract and make it easier for investors to discuss, because collaboration is key," he said.

Sri said the government is ready to provide support for the private sector in cooperation in development in the housing sector through providing liquidity incentives and providing land.

PKP Minister Maruarar Sirait (Ara) said that the provision of housing for the community cannot only rely on government budgets, but cooperation between various parties.

According to him, teamwork is needed to be able to realize the construction of 3 million housing units which are one of the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka government programs, because they cannot only rely on the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).

The government of Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka has a program of building 3 million housing units per year to overcome the shortage of housing supply in Indonesia. In detail, the program targets the construction of 2 million housing units in rural areas and 1 million housing units in urban areas.

Therefore, Ara also hopes that other private developers can also support the program of 3 million houses. He believes this program will be able to run in cooperation with various parties.
