Herbal Medicine Seminar Sido Appears In Collaboration With IDI At Bunda Margonda Hospital, Depok

JAKARTA - PT Industri Jamu dan Pharmacy Sido Muncul Tbk (SIDO) through Sido Muncul Natural products in collaboration with the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Depok City Branch, and Bunda Margonda Depok Hospital held a one-day seminar with the theme "The Role of Doctors in Herbal Medicine Transformation as a Bridge Towards Holistic Health in the Modern Era", on Saturday 8 February.

This seminar was attended by people from medicine by presenting five speakers. In the first session was delivered by the Director of Sido Muncul Dr. (HC) Irwan Hidayat, dr. Yuliandi, M.Kes, and Mia Permawati, S.Farm, followed up in the second session with speakers dr. Resna Murti Wibowo, Sp.PD and dr. Hardhi Pranata, Sp.N MARS.

"Public trust in herbal medicine is increasing, driven by advances in technology and research that prove its efficacy and safety. This trend is strengthened by awareness of natural health, negative impacts of chemical drugs, and support from the government," said Irwan Hidayat.

Irwan continued that the progress of research has proven the efficacy of herbal medicine, so that people believe in its benefits even more.

"With scientific evidence, herbal medicine can now be part of a wider treatment and be accepted by the medical world," added Irwan Hidayat.

According to Irwan, herbal medicine has phytochemical content that can help increase endurance, relieve inflammation, and overcome various chronic diseases. This opens up great opportunities for herbal medicine to be used as a companion therapy in the world of modern medicine.

"We want to make sure that herbal medicine is not only considered a traditional medicine, but also a scientific research-based health solution," he added.

Giving herbal medicines to patients in formal health care systems such as hospitals is better done by doctors. Because herbal medicines are actually natural drugs that already have clinical trials, so doctors do not need to hesitate to provide herbal medicines to patients.

So in my opinion, to use herbal medicines in formal treatment services, there is no need for a special route for traditional medicine doctors like other countries do. The doctor is only one, there is no need to go to school anymore, but the medicine can use chemicals and herbal medicines," said Irwan.

According to Irwan, there are many scientific tests (clinical trials) on herbal medicines carried out by researchers. The results of this scientific test can be read in journals and books and doctors can read them to check the benefits of each ingredient of herbal medicines.

For example, if you read literature and journals about mutual comedy, for example, there are already many. Doctors just have to read and understand what the benefits of tamulawak are to then accompany this herbal medicine with pharmaceutical drugs," continued Irwan.

In an effort to encourage these natural drugs to enter a formal treatment system, said Irwan, there are at least three parties who can share tasks. The first party is the researchers, who are tasked with conducting clinical trials of herbal medicines. Then from the results of this researcher's clinical trial, herbal entrepreneurs make quality and standardized products. Then doctors and hospitals read the literature and journals to understand the benefits of herbal medicines.

"We have collected journals and research results related to herbal medicines, then we will distribute them to doctors," said Irwan.
