JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) said that it has issued as many as 298 suitability of sea space utilization activities (KKPRL) to support the acceleration of national oil and gas production (oil and gas).

Director General of Marine and Marine Space Management of the KKP Victor Gustaaf Manoppo said the KKP's commitment to supporting the upstream oil and gas sector is in line with the Presidential Decree (Keppres) of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2025 concerning the Task Force for the Acceleration of National Energy Downstreaming and Resilience.

"From 2020 to January 2025, the KKP has issued 298 KKPRL for the oil and gas sector," Victor said as quoted from the KKP official website, Tuesday, February 4.

Victor said this shows the real contribution of the KKP in supporting the smooth licensing in the upstream and downstream oil and gas sectors.

He added that the KKP synergizes with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) to accelerate licensing, attract more investment and increase national oil and gas production.

Synergy has been marked by the signing of a joint agreement report on the calculation of the area of oil and gas facilities in the KKPRL application.

This was done between the Directorate General of Marine and Marine Space Management (DJPKRL) of the KKP and the Directorate General of Oil and Gas of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas).

The Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Achmad Muchtasyar, also appreciated the collaboration between all parties to ensure that the agreement established could strengthen the upstream oil and gas sector and pave the way for national progress.

Achmad hopes that the agreement can be followed by other stakeholders, so that it will have a good impact on the sustainability of the oil and gas sector in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the Head of SKK Migas Djoko Siswanto assessed that calculating the area and clusterization of licensing is very important in accelerating licensing and providing legal certainty for investors.

Since the enactment of the Job Creation Act, the oil and gas licensing procedure has become more organized to increase efficiency without hampering operations.

Djoko also emphasized that the agreement was part of efforts to increase investment and sustainability in the oil and gas sector in Indonesia.

To note, the agreement is a follow-up to the verification of reports on the achievements of the KKP National Strategy for the Prevention of Corruption (Stranas PKP) for the 2024 period.

The verification indicates the need for an agreement at echelon I level between the three institutions to adjust the calculation of the area and amount of oil and gas facilities in the KKPRL application.

The agreement contains procedures for calculating the area of oil and gas facilities in the KKPRL application for ten facilities, including jetty, single buy mooring, non-single buy mooring, well head platform, jackup rig, floating rig, moving rig / drilling area, drilling waste dumping area and sediment dredging results as well as underwater pipes and submarine cables.
