PLN Ready To Supply Electricity To Succeed Free Nutrition Eating Program

PT PLN (Persero) will provide reliable electricity supply for the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) program. PLN ensures the reliability of electricity supply at 238 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) or MBG Kitchens in 31 provinces, with a total power requirement of more than 4 Megavolt Ampere (MVA).

The Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir, emphasized that state-owned companies must take part in supporting government programs that have a direct impact on improving the quality of life of the community.

"President Prabowo has emphasized the importance of cross-sectoral synergy including the active contribution of SOEs in the Free Nutrition Food program which aims to improve people's welfare, and SOEs have a strategic role according to their fields," said Erick, Saturday, January 25.

As a follow-up, Erick ensures that every BUMN plays an active role in supporting President Prabowo's vision to realize a healthy and competitive superior generation.

"We ask PLN to prepare reliable electricity infrastructure as an energy source for SPPG or the MBG Kitchen, including reaching villages, to ensure the smooth service of the Free Nutrition Food program," said Erick.

The Ministry of SOEs, together with the National Nutrition Agency, will form a Project Management Office (PMO) to coordinate the role of SOEs involved, in accordance with their respective duties, territories, and contributions. This step aims to expand the coverage of beneficiaries of the MBG program.

PLN President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, emphasized that as a SOE that is mandated to provide reliable electricity infrastructure, PLN is ready to fully support the implementation of the MBG Program which is in line with PLN's commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.

"All of our units are ready to support the implementation of the Free Nutrition Food program. All of our officers have ensured the reliability of electricity at each point, be it in nutritious food production facilities, storage facilities to distribution locations," said Darmawan.

Darmawan added that the projected highest national peak load throughout 2025 reached 50.1 Gigawatt (GW) with a supply capacity of 52.9 GW, so that the condition of the national electricity system is still very safe.

PLN guarantees that electricity needs in SPPG or Kitchen MBG locations can be met properly. This includes the provision of electricity infrastructure, capacity building, to optimal maintenance of electricity networks," concluded Darmawan.
