JAKARTA - Minister of Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Maman Abdurrahman said that small and medium enterprises must be given space to manage mines. So, it can develop and become big.
The statement was made in response to a proposal regarding the involvement of universities and SMEs in mining management.
"Our goal is to actually provide space for those who are included in the small and medium business sector so that they can grow into big businesses," Maman told reporters in Jakarta, Saturday, January 25.
According to him, it is time for SMEs to be given the opportunity to participate in mining management. Thus, it is not always a large company that manages mines.
"If we look at the mining sectors, the involvement of small businesses, medium-sized businesses, in for example the supply of heavy equipment, food, various kinds of mining contractors, and many mining contractors, they also come from the medium-sized business sector," he said.
Nevertheless, Maman said that the competence of SMEs that will manage mines must be seen first. Thus, not just any SMEs will be involved in management.
The Ministry of MSMEs and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will later prepare SME criteria that can be involved in mining management.
"But with a note, competency factors, everything will also be prepared later," said Maman.
