JAKARTA - Member of the Indonesian Parliament, M Sarmuji, stated that President Jokowi and Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto proved that the Indonesian economy was growing positively.

“Indonesia can grow steadily above the international average. Indonesia's economic growth of 5.4 percent is an extraordinary achievement in the midst of the threat of a global crisis," said Sarmuji in a written statement in Jakarta quoted by Antara, Sunday.

The Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the DPR explained that Indonesia's economic growth in the second quarter of 2022 grew by 5.44 percent compared to the same period in 2021.

According to him, the growth is very encouraging in the midst of world conditions that are facing difficult challenges. The coronavirus pandemic left deep wounds, coupled with the Russo-Ukrainian war and the hot weather around Europe, which has created global uncertainty.

"What is more encouraging is that this economic growth has occurred in almost all business fields," he said.

According to him, the data shows that the infrastructure development that the government is pushing for has begun to show extraordinary support for economic growth. It also boosts growth in other business fields.

According to Sarmuji, Indonesia's success in growing the economy cannot be separated from the unity between Jokowi and Airlangga Hartarto in managing the economy.

"The step of combining the two causes our economy to become stable," he said.

Sarmuji also considered that Airlangga Hartarto had not once lost his focus as Coordinating Minister for the Economy, even though the smell of the presidential election was getting stronger in recent times.

"His position as Chairman of the Party as well as a presidential candidate does not cause his duties as Coordinating Minister to be neglected," Sarmuji emphasized.
