PT KAI Will Close Illegal Crossing Location Of Argo Sindoro Train Collision In Tambun

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 1 Jakarta plans to close the illegal crossing at KM 34+4/5 plot of Jalan Cikarang-Tambun, West Java.

This follows an accident involving the Argo Sindoro train and the Avanza minibus, Tuesday, June 21 at 10:54 WIB.

"We remind road users to be more careful when crossing level crossings, look left and right before crossing, always use official level crossings equipped with doorstops, sirens for mutual safety," said Head of Public Relations of PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Eva Chairunisa told reporters on Tuesday.

Eva added that the closure was aimed at the safety and security of residents in accordance with Law Number 23 of 2007 concerning Railways.

"PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta deeply regrets the incident. The car crash with the Argo Sindoro train caused damage to the railway facilities and infrastructure, one of which was the damage to the wessel motor," he said.

In addition to the damage to railway infrastructure, he continued, the fatal accident caused travel delays because there were a number of long-distance trains and KRLs that had not been able to pass during the evacuation process.

PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Eva said, apologized to service users affected by the incident.
