JAKARTA - PT Bank Mandiri Tbk. stated that they have reached an agreement with the Directorate General of Taxes, the Ministry of Finance regarding the provision of access to financial information (exchange of information/EOI) for tax purposes.

President Director of Bank Mandiri Darmawan Junaidi said the synergy could increase efficiency because all activities were carried out online through a special portal rather than manually via post.

"In the future, we hope that this well-established synergy can be continued in line with the digital transformation that is being carried out by Bank Mandiri and also the innovation of the Directorate General of Taxes in utilizing information technology developments, in order to accelerate data transmission and increase state revenue from taxes," he said in an official statement, Monday, December 6.

As a follow-up to this collaboration, Darmawan added, his party and the Directorate General of Taxes have also piloted the use of the portal, according to the mandate of the Director General of Taxes Decree No. KEP. 248/PJ/2021. In the near future, this piloting will also be carried out for other financial service institutions.

"The company ensures that the information submitted is only related to taxpayers who are undergoing an investigation process or certain tax cases, not to all customers in accordance with the provisions of the applicable laws and regulations," he explained.

For information, the collaboration of the two state-owned entities is an implementation of the mandate of Law no. 9 of 2017 and the Minister of Finance Regulation No. 70/PMK.03/2017 concerning Technical Guidelines on Access to Financial Information.

In these two regulations, all Financial Service Institutions (LJK) in Indonesia have a mandate to provide access to financial information to the Directorate General of Taxes in order to support taxation nationally.

Meanwhile, this cooperation agreement was signed by the Director-General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance, Suryo Utomo, and the President Director of Bank Mandiri, Darmawan Junaidi, at the Head Office of the Directorate General of Taxes, Jakarta today.

"Bank Mandiri hopes that this synergy can optimize state revenues to accelerate the recovery of the national economy," concluded Darmawan.
