Good News From Bank Indonesia: Residents Of West Sumatra, North Kalimantan, And South Kalimantan Can Change Rupiah At BI Offices

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) has reopened rupiah currency exchange services to the public at the Representative Offices of the Provinces of West Sumatra (Sumbar), North Kalimantan (Kaltara), and South Kalimantan (Kalsel).

Head of the BI Communications Department Erwin Haryono said this opening fulfilled all the representative office services that had been operating.

"Thus, rupiah currency services can now be carried out in all BI offices, both at the head office and at 45 representative offices throughout Indonesia," he said, quoted Friday, October 29.

According to Erwin, previously the money exchange service was only opened for the head office area and 42 representative offices.

Meanwhile, the decision to open all public services at the central bank representative office refers to BI Press Release No.23/254/DKom dated October 6, 2021, that the reopening of Rupiah currency services to the public takes into account the Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) level in the region concerned.

"This opening is BI's effort to ensure the availability of Rupiah currency suitable for circulation in the community," said Erwin.

It was also revealed that people who will use the rupiah currency service are required to use the PeduliLindungi application and scan barcodes as evidence that they have carried out the first minimum dose of vaccine.

While at the BI representative office, you can show a certificate of COVID-19 vaccination at least the first dose.

For people who are unable to vaccinate due to certain conditions, they can show a negative rapid test antigen certificate with a validity period of 1x24 hours or a PCR negative certificate with a validity period of 2x24 hours.

"Bank Indonesia urges people who will use rupiah currency services in all representative offices to continue to implement the COVID-19 protocol," concluded Erwin.
