JAKARTA - Trade Minister Muhammad Lutfi conveyed that Indonesia must be optimistic in realizing the goal of becoming a center for halal products and a mecca for Muslim fashion in the world. This commitment was invigorated at the 2021 Trade Expo Indonesia-Digital Edition event in the form of the Halal Trade Forum and Embracing Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) "The Halal Trade Forum and Embracing JMFW which will be held at TEI-DE 2021 are different from the TEI events that took place in previous years. In holding TEI-DE 2021, we have two messages that we want to realize, namely Indonesia as a center for the halal industry. The world and Jakarta are the mecca of the world's Islamic fashion industry. We will start these two things this year," explained the Trade Minister as quoted by Antara, Friday, October 22.
The Halal Trade Forum will be held in a hybrid manner this Friday and the Embracing Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) on November 18, 2021 at Aquatik Stadium Gelora Bung Karno Senayan, Jakarta, as part of the TEI-DE 2021 event which will take place on October 21-4 November 2021 ( online interactive) until December 20, 2021 (showcase).
According to the Minister of Trade, the world market for halal products is a very promising market. The world's Muslim population is estimated to spend more than US$2 trillion on food, pharmaceutical products, cosmetics, fashion and recreation. This is an opportunity that should be put to good use.
"Currently, the export value of Indonesian halal products is estimated to have only reached six billion US dollars or ranked 21st in the world. As for Muslim fashion exports, it is estimated at 4.1 billion US dollars or 13th in the world," said the Minister of Trade.
The Minister of Trade added, to increase the competitiveness of Indonesian halal products in the global market, the Ministry of Trade will also cooperate with PT Bank Negara Indonesia through BNI Xpora to improve product quality as well as in terms of financing and networking so that overseas buyers will see and be interested.
Meanwhile, at the Embracing JMFW, there will be a fashion show, talk show, and mini showcase in the fashion sector, including halal cosmetics, which will feature the works of Indonesian and international Muslim designers as well as halal cosmetic products.
According to the Minister of Trade, Indonesia has enormous potential to be developed as a center for halal products and a mecca for Muslim fashion in the world due to the support of resources and the competitiveness of its products.
"With the holding of these two activities, it is hoped that Indonesia will be able to compete in the global market with halal products and Muslim fashion. So, not only to become a champion in the local market, but also in regional and global markets," concluded the Trade Minister.
