My Indo Airlines PKPU Application Rejected, Garuda Indonesia Boss: We Stay Focused On Restructuring

JAKARTA - PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk has escaped the snare of delaying debt payment obligations (PKPU). This is in line with the decision of the Commercial Court at the Central Jakarta District Court which rejected the PKPU application for My Indo Airlines as a creditor to Garuda Indonesia.

Responding to the decision, Director of Garuda Indonesia Irfan Setiaputra said PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk will continue to focus on restructuring its business and operating obligations.

"And ensure that flight operations for passenger and cargo transportation run normally," he said via text message, Thursday, October 21.

Previously, the presiding judge of the trial, Heru Hanindyo, explained that creditors' debts could not be proven simply like the PKPU requirements. Therefore, the court decided to reject the application.

For your information, the trial for the decision on the suspension of PKPU obligations should have been held last week. However, the PKPU decision was postponed for the next week until October 21, 2021 because the presiding judge was unable to attend.

On July 16, Garuda received a summons from the Commercial Court at the Central Jakarta District Court regarding the request for suspension of debt payment obligations (PKPU) filed by PT My Indo Airlines against the company.

The submission of the PKPU application is related to the existence of Garuda's business obligations to My Indo Airlines which have not been resolved in connection with the cargo flight service cooperation carried out by both parties.

Based on a copy of the lawsuit file obtained by the PKPU application, it was submitted by My Indo Airlines President Director Mohamed Yunos bin Mohamed Ishak and My Indo Airlines Director M. Ridwan. The applicant was represented by Ansrul T. Ahmad from the Law Office of DWV Advocaten as the beneficiary.
