JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is committed to abandoning fossil energy and switching to environmentally friendly energy or new and renewable energy (EBT). This is in line with Indonesia's commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the Nationally Determined Contributions by 2030 by 29 percent with its own capabilities and 41 percent with international assistance.

"Once again, I emphasize my commitment to leaving fossil energy and switching to new and renewable energy," he said at the inauguration of the biodiesel factory owned by PT Jhonlin Agro Raya in Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan, Thursday, October 21.

Therefore, the former mayor of Surakarta also encourages biodiesel production to continue to be increased. In 2021, the President targets Indonesia to be able to produce and distribute 9.2 million kiloliters.

"I ask for an even higher increase next year. These strategic steps require commitment and support from all of us from upstream to downstream," he explained.

Jokowi also appreciated PT Jhonlin Group for building a biodiesel factory in the context of industrializing CPO to biodiesel. According to Jokowi, the presence of this factory can provide greater added value and create derivative products from CPO.
