The Fate Of UI Chancellor Ari Kuncoro Who Became A BRI Commissioner Was Determined Today At The EGMS

JAKARTA - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk. (BRI) plans to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) on a day where one of the agendas is to renew the ranks of high-ranking officials in the company.

"The agenda for the Extraordinary GMS is a change in the composition of the company's management", said BRI in its announcement, Thursday, October 7.

Just so you know, this EGMS is certain to be the climax of the polemic made by the Deputy President Commissioner of BRI, Ari Kuncoro. The reason, Ari had made a fuss, because he was also listed as Chancellor of the University of Indonesia (UI).

This made Ari proven to have violated the UI Statute, before it was changed at this time, for committing an illegal act of holding multiple positions. The regulation clearly states that the UI Chancellor is prohibited from holding concurrent positions in State-Owned Enterprises.

"Yes, it is true. One of them (the replacement of Ari Kuncoro)", replied an internal VOI source at BRI when confirmed.

It was also revealed that the EGMS agenda of the largest bank in Indonesia will be a place for shareholders to give their blessing regarding the new regulatory policies within the company.

"Enforcement of the Regulation of the Minister of SOEs of the Republic of Indonesia Number PER-05/MBU/04/2021 dated April 8, 2021, regarding the Social and Environmental Responsibility Program of State-Owned Enterprises", said BRI.
