Competition Between Countries Will Be Tight Post-pandemic, Erick Thohir: Don't Be Complacent, This Is The Era For Us To Attack

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir invites all elements of the nation to not only think about how to survive the COVID-19 pandemic. He said, the post-pandemic must also be considered. Moreover, the competition will be very tight in the post-COVID-19 period.

Therefore, said Erick, preparation in dealing with the post-pandemic situation is a must so that Indonesia does not lag behind other countries when conditions return to normal. He stressed not to be complacent during this COVID-19 period.

"This is precisely the era where we are also attacking. So don't just hold on. If we continue to be complacent with COVID, COVID, COVID, later post-COVID we will also suffer. This is a good momentum for all of us to anticipate the changes that will occur, of course, because of COVID-19 and also post-COVID," he said during the 'Bangkit Bareng' online discussion, Tuesday, September 28.

Therefore, Erick advised the public not to be careless with the decline in COVID-19 cases. According to him, although cases show a downward trend, the discipline of health protocols must still be implemented. This is because this is the key to stopping the spread of COVID-19.

Not only that, according to Erick, the Healthy Indonesia Program is also the key to Indonesia's current economic recovery, which is currently under pressure from the COVID-19 pandemic and allows Indonesia to run fast after the pandemic.

"We still have to be consistent, the economy will not be able to run without discipline in implementing health protocols," he said.

In addition, said Erick, the key for Indonesia to win the competition in the future is regeneration. Erick said a large number of young people is a major force for Indonesia in facing competition at the global level.

"Regeneration must occur in order to maintain our dream which in 2045 to become a country with the world's top five economies. We have a lot of young people and natural resources, don't just become a market but move on to improve the quality of human capital," he said.
